Name of Project/Initiative: Veteran Park

Project Description

The Emporium Building at 512 Main Street was condemned and torn down in 2022, leaving a large open area on Main Street. The City of Almena has planned to create a Veteran Park in this location. The park will contain a monument rock honoring those who have served and are currently serving our country. The park will also include four shelters, pathways throughout the park, various landscaping, four trees, benches, and possibly statues as donations are given.

How the project will benefit Norton County

Almena has always strived to provide positive first impressions for its citizens and visitors. The empty open space that sits along the brick Main Street takes away from the beauty of Almena. The Almena community will greatly benefit from the Veteran Park by showing its pride for those who have served and are still serving our country. Norton County would benefit from this project by keeping pride in the surrounding area for its citizens and visitors. Children, relatives, and all residents will feel honored to call Norton County home.
