This organization provides members with information on how to trace their ancestry. The group also works to improve the information and materials located in the genealogy room at the Norton Public Library through research and history collection. MatchDay Fundraising Project
Name of Project/Initiative: Purchase "ViewScan Microfilm Scanner"
Fundraising Goal: $1,200
Project Description: NCGS has secured microfilm of US Census Reports, immigration information, and Norton Telegram newspapers, but their current scanner does not have the functionality to read it. Match Day funds will be used to purchase a new scanner that will interface with their computer and be able to read the 16mm/35mm microfilm rolls.
How the project will benefit Norton County
The project will help the community access historical information. "People like to research family when they visit Norton, and locals like to be able to search area history," said Carolyn Applegate.
