Identified Goals:

• Restore and develop downtown Norton

• Implement county-wide tree planting program

• Develop upgraded infrastructure plan for roads, sidewalks, curbs and other city utilities

• Upgrade and improve trash and recycling cans

• Improve signage and promotion within the county

• Repair downtown curbs and improve curb appeal

• Clean up and beautify all city entrances

• Utilize vo-tech students to redo or repair buildings

 

Grants Given Totaling $47,173.44:

• Lenora PRIDE received a grant in 2015 to address safety hazards and beautification efforts on Main Street. 

• City of Norton received a grant in 2015 to fund landscaping projects within the community.

• Almena PRIDE received a grant in 2016 to erect a digital sign on the community buildings lawn to announce information and activities. 

• Norton Magical Christmas received grants in 2016, 2017 and 2019 to provide festive decorations in downtown Norton to create Christmas magic. 

• Norton PRIDE received a grant in 2017 to provide new signage and updated looks at city entrances. 

• Lenora PRIDE received a grant in 2017 to place grave markers and flags at all veteran tombstones.  

• Norton City/County Economic Development received a grant in 2017 for curbside appeal and improvements at the American Legion. 

• Norton Flower Fund participated in the 2017 Norton County Community Foundation Match Day to support ongoing programs. 

• Norton PRIDE participated in the 2017 Norton County Community Foundation Match Day to support ongoing programs. 

• Norton Veterans Memorial Park participated in the 2017 Norton County Community Foundation Match Day to support ongoing programs.

• Lenora PRIDE Flower Fund received grants in 2017 and 2018 to purchase necessary supplies for flower pots around town.

• Norton Flower Fund received a grant in 2018 to purchase necessary supplies for flower pots around town. 

• Almena PRIDE Flower Fund received a grant in 2018 to purchase necessary supplies for flower pots around town.

• Lenora PRIDE and the City of Lenora received a grant in 2018 to replace signage for block areas at the Lenora Cemetery. 

• Norton PRIDE participated in the 2018 Norton County Community Foundation Match Day to support ongoing programs. 

• Norton Veterans Memorial Park received a grant in 2019 to provide ongoing program support.
