About Feed My People

Mission: Feed My People is working to eliminate hunger and improve the health and well-being of our community through access to healthy and nutritious foods, community education and advocacy.

Vision: We envision a community where everyone has access to good quality, nutritious food, understands the consequences of hunger and poor nutrition, and is committed to creating a stronger, healthier Norton County.

Our Guiding Principles: 

  • We believe in engaging the community and involving those we serve in finding solutions to eliminate hunger and food insecurity.

  • We believe the root causes of hunger must be addressed to realize our long-term goal of eliminating hunger.

  • We believe collaboration and partnerships - internally and externally - are essential to fulfilling our mission.

  • We recognize the dignity of all people and believe food is an essential right. 

  • We believe hunger can be eliminated.

MatchDay Fundraising Project

Name of Project/Initiative: Food Pantry

Fundraising Goal: $5,000

​

Project Description: We will be working toward opening a local food pantry to serve Norton County residents. We would like to purchase property in order to store food and other goods to distribute to citizens of Norton County. We would eventually love to offer other services such as SNAP sign-up assistance, resource center, mental health options and community events (dinners, cooking workshops, etc). 

​

​How the project will benefit Norton County

This project will benefit Norton County's food insecurity issues. Our community garden has already helped feed people in the community. There are people in need of food assistance in this county and they are not being served right now. We want to provide that service for them and be a reliable, consistent source of charity in all forms to fill the needs of our community. 

 

We have a BIG vision! We have been busy applying for grants and reaching out to larger resources (Kansas Food Bank) for assistance in getting our organization off the ground. We are excited to hopefully be a life-changing resource for Norton.
