Star Spangled Stitchers

About Star Spangled Stitchers

Star Spangled Stitchers is a group of volunteers who donate their time, materials, and workmanship to make patriotic“Quilts of Valor” for Norton County veterans. Veterans are presented with these quilts during ceremonies in appreciation for their service, sacrifice, and valor in serving our nation.

The group's first presentation was July 2016; they have made and presented 222 Quilts of Valor to Norton County veterans since.

MatchDay Fundraising Project

Name of Project/Initiative: Quilts of Valor

Fundraising Goal: $2,000

Project Description: Match Day Funds will be used to help offset the cost of materials. Each quilter is given $125 for their supplies and time spent. This is only a small amount of the $475 a quilt costs in materials and quilting. The quilts are truly a labor of love. In addition to making the quilts, volunteers interview the veterans, write up their military story and present this with the quilt at the public presentation. The group has approximately 50 more quilts to make for Norton County veterans.

How the project will benefit Norton County

"We have many veterans in Norton County who served our country in the military. We want to let them know that we appreciate their time, energy, and the sacrifices they gave to our country. Many times we forget the sacrifices they have made for our county and each of us individually. Our quilts not only recognize the veterans, but cover them with love and appreciation," said Regina Stark.
